Illness Policy at Förskolan Ljuset Preschool

The rule is that children must be completely healthy to attend preschool and able to participate in all activities, both indoor and outdoor. The preschool staff assesses how well the child can cope with being in the program. Children may attend preschool if their general condition allows it and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours.
The child must stay home for at least 48 hours after vomiting/diarrhea has stopped and can eat normally. Siblings must also stay home.

Children can attend preschool provided their eyes are not discharging and if their general condition allows it, after a doctor has determined the type of infection. Some bacterial infections may require antibiotics.

Staff are never obligated to administer medication to any child (except for medications prescribed by a doctor with detailed instructions from the doctor on how the medicine should be taken).

Children can attend preschool if their general condition allows it.
Children must stay away from preschool during the illness period. Children may return when their general condition allows (chickenpox is contagious from a day before outbreak until the last scab has dried, approximately two weeks).
Children must stay home until they have been on antibiotics for at least three days. Or until the sores have dried up.
Children may attend preschool if their general condition allows it, but no earlier than 24 hours after the first treatment.
Must be treated. NOTE: Notify staff.
We follow the National Board of Health and Welfare’s recommendations regarding “Infection and Hygiene in Preschool.”

For antibiotic treatment, for example, children must stay home for at least three days (24×3).

Staff are never obligated to administer medication to any child (except for medications prescribed by a doctor with detailed instructions from the doctor on how the medicine should be taken).

Reporting Illness

As a parent, you must report if your child is sick and what illness they have.

There are rules for when children must stay home for a certain period even if you consider them healthy, for example if they have contracted a contagious disease such as stomach flu, chickenpox, eye infection, etc. See our illness policy here.

Always contact the preschool before the child returns.
